This year will have an Icelandic theme featuring distinguished guest composers Kaija Saariaho & Jóhann Jóhannsson as well as the music of Kjartan Sveinsson of Sigur Rós. Music Director Alexander Mickelthwate even got to visit Iceland in May 2011 to get a first-hand understanding of the exciting things happening there. Also featured is a world premiere by American composer Nico Muhly, and a special performance by Canada’s own Lalala Human Steps.
Our very own composer-in-residence Vincent Ho will once again be in the spotlight with his new cello concerto performed by distinguished guest artist and cellist Shauna Roston. Violinist Jenny Koh rounds out the Festival’s highlights as another distinguished guest artist. Certainly a fascinating line-up!
